Easy Water Table Hack for Endless Summer Fun

If your kids are anything like mine, they love making it rain in the water table—but let’s be real, refilling that top tray over and over gets old fast. 🙃My older daughter, Ella, gets bored of having to pour water over the top tray to make it rain, and even more exhausting—my younger daughter, Ruthie, demands I do it over and over again!

How to Set It Up

Step 1: Drill a hole in the top tray of the water table, in the little circular reservoir area.  (This was my first time using a drill myself.  I mention that because this is EASY.  If you’re not handy and have never used a drill before, SAME.  You can do this!)

Step 2: Feed the tubing through the hole you just created so that a small amount sticks out through the top, and the tubing runs down into the large basin of the water table.

Step 3: Attach your water pump.  It should sit comfortably on top of the circular reservoir area.  Point the nozzle so that it will direct water to “rain” down in your water table.

Step 4: Fill your water table with water, turn on the pump, and watch the magic happen!  The water flows from the bottom basin to the top, creating a continuous rain cycle.

Once your water table is rigged with its own little rain system, the play options really open up! My kids were so excited to see the water falling from the top without me having to constantly refill it—and they immediately started coming up with their own creative games.
